Among the 26 people killed in Pahalgam terror attack, the three tourists from Gujarat have been identified as Shailesh Kalathiya from Surat, Yatish Parmar and his son Smit Parmar from Bhavnagar

Among the 26 people who were brutally killed in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, three people were from Gujarat, said the officials.

Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel stated that the state government is in constant touch with the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government to bring back the bodies.

The people from Gujarat have been identified as Shailesh Kalathiya from Surat, Yatish Parmar and his son Smit Parmar from Bhavnagar.

"Three persons from Gujarat -- two from Bhavnagar and one from Surat -- were killed in the attack, while two were injured. The victim hailing from Surat lived in Mumbai. We are in touch with the Centre and Jammu and Kashmir government to bring back the bodies. We have also started efforts to bring back other tourists who survived the attack," said Patel.

As per officials, Kalathiya (44) who belongs to Chikuwadi area in Surat city, shifted to Mumbai a few years back after he was transferred there.

"Kalathiya's cousin told us that he shifted to Mumbai four years ago due to job transfer. He had gone to Pahalgam with his wife and two children. His wife and children are safe," Surat disaster management department's revenue officer Sajid Merujay said.

Yatish Parmar and his son, Smit Parmar who were the residents of the Kaliyabid area in Bhavnagar, were among the victims of the tragic terror attack. The father-son duo had been visiting the region as part of a larger group of tourists when the attack occurred, claiming the lives of 26 people in total.

According to the sources, the two were part of a group of 19 individuals from Bhavnagar who had traveled to Kashmir on April 16. The were travelling to attend a discourse by renowned religious preacher Morari Bapu.

On April 22, terrorists launched a deadly attack on one of the most famous tourist locations in Pahalgam, south Kashmir. The assailants opened fire in a crowded area leading to the death of 26 people, many of who were tourists visiting the region and several were reported to be injured in the attack.

As a result, security has been heightened across the valley, especially at prime tourist locations.
